(1) Purpose

·         To enable children with special needs to learn in an harmonious environment with ordinary children, and give them equal opportunities for care, education and training.

·         To ensure that children with special needs get along with ordinary children and learn together.

·         Provide children with special needs a common environment to have the opportunity to participate in a learning program which is suitable for them and to cooperate with the teaching of ordinary children. The curriculum is developed to promote the whole-child development on a moral, intellectual, physical, social, linguistic and self-caring ideal.

 

(2) Service target

·         2 ~ 6 years old children with special needs

 

(3) Service hours

·         Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm

·         Saturday 8am to 1pm

·         Please note that we are closed on Sundays and public holidays (*The kindergarten also has school holidays.  Parents will be notified separately.)

 

(4) Teachers

·         Our teachers are professional instructors who have received special education training. There are professional physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and clinical psychologists arranged by the Social Welfare Department who regularly follow up at the kindergarten.

 

(5) Special needs student quota

·         Eighteen

 

(6Class structure

·         Full-time

·         According to the children’s ability, they are arranged into N1, K1, K2 and K3 classes.

 

(7) Activity content

A. For children:

·         Individual counselling: assist children in areas where development is relatively slow or have difficulty in learning concepts and teach them according to their individual abilities.

·         Group counselling: learning with similar abilities can promote children's interest and motivation in learning.

·         Learning environment: children in the integrated group spend most of their time in the normal classroom, learning and participating in various activities with other children.

B. For parents:

    In order to increase parents' understanding of the kindergarten and their children, the school will arrange the following activities:

·         Part-time parent meetings

·         Schedule individual meetings during the year

·         Hold parent-child activities

·         Arrange lectures and seminars

·         Publish parent newsletters

·         Homebased visits

·         Loan textbooks and teaching aids

 

(8) Application qualification

 

·         After the child is referred by the Central Referral Team of the Social Welfare Department, the school will arrange an appointment with the parents and child.
